Warranty in Spain 2026 – 3-Year Legal Guarantee
Spain is notable in the EU: the legal guarantee for consumer goods is 3 years (for products purchased under current consumer law rules), longer than the EU minimum.
3-year legal guarantee
Under the revised General Law for the Defence of Consumers, the seller is liable for conformity defects for 3 years from delivery for most consumer goods.
Second-hand goods
For second-hand goods sold by professional sellers, the legal guarantee is 1 year unless a longer period is agreed.
Mandatory Warranty Period
Uniform period: 3 years (new goods); 1 year (used from professionals)
Spain exceeds the EU 2-year minimum. Commercial warranties are additional.
