Consumer Rights & Warranty in the EU

In the EU you always have the right to a minimum 2-year legal guarantee at no cost, regardless of whether you bought the goods online, in a shop or by mail order.

Under EU rules, you have the right to cancel and return your online order within 14 days, for any reason and with no justification.

Consumer protection in Hungary is exceptionally strong, especially for durable consumer goods.

Legal Source: 151/2003 (IX. 22.) Government Decree & Civil Code

Mandatory Warranty:

  • 10 000 – 100 000 HUF: 1 year
  • 100 000 – 250 000 HUF: 2 years
  • 250 000+ HUF: 3 years

In Hungary, mandatory warranty depends on price (up to 3 years).

Important: In addition to the warranty, a legal guarantee (conformity) is also valid for at least 2 years.
